From the end of THIEL, Coherent Source Service began.

Lexington, Kentucky is THIEL’s spiritual home
THIEL left its long time home in Lexington, KY in 2014
The new company owners made the decision to abandon the factory on Nandino Blvd. for a new location closer to the homes of investors effectively ending production of THIEL’s Coherent Source Loudspeakers.
While some of the remaining staff opted to follow, long time service tech and factory manager, Rob Gillum refused. THIEL honored his decision and established a separate service facility less than a mile away where Coherent Source Service remains in operation today.
Gary Dayton continues what Rob Gillum started.
After nearly four years of struggle in Tennessee, THIEL finally closed its doors for good. Rob Gillum purchased the remaining assets of the service department and established Coherent Source Service as a company dedicated to THIEL’s decades long client list. Rob retired in 2025 marking 38 years of building and servicing THIEL speakers.
Gary Dayton began his extensive career in high performance audio at THIEL in 2005 as THIEL’s customer service manager. He was trained by Rob and worked along side him, Jim Thiel, and other brand veterans for 8 years. Upon Rob’s retirement, Gary purchased Coherent Source Service with the intent to continue servicing THIEL speakers well into the foreseeable future.
